MISAJEL - Karlhos Misajel
Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, makes everything easier, the better, I have long been playing with different brands, in order to investigate, decipher, on the road, but then having my DURGA, AMMA and GAIA mouthpiece sounds like what my soul wants to say.
Karlhos Misajel, Peruvian Musician Important in the music scene thanks to the modern sound of his saxophone, plays Alto, Tenor, Soprano and baritone saxophone, clarinet, flute, piccolo and EWI, maintains a career as a sideman, accompanying artists, session musician, teacher and soloist.
Since 2007, begins his quest for the world, having toured in Spain, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, USA and many more. In Peru he recorded his first album: A Different Day (Smooth Jazz) in 2009 traveled to Mexico, where he recorded his CD Jazz: "MISAJEL / ESCAMILLA - MEXICO JAZZ" with Adrian Escamilla (composer). In parallel, performs concerts and workshops. He was invited by the International Conservatory of Music "Souza Lima & Berklee" (Sao Paulo - Brazil), in 2010 he recorded CD BACKSTAGE turn participates in the "CLAEM" (Latin American Center for Musical Studies) in 2011 was invited to be MYSAXTALK network member to write articles and classes (Miami - USA).
2011 and 2012, made his tour with Worskhsop and concerts in the most important cities of Peru, is the first Peruvian musician to be elected artist: P.Mauriat Saxophones, Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, Barkley Moutpieces, Rico Reeds this year and 2013 as artist FORESTONE Japan Reeds and Beechler/ARB mouthpieces, currently performs concerts/workshops and is producing his new CD.
Why did you choose to become a musician?
Music was a big surprise in my life. I wanted to be a doctor but when I discovered music i felt something special and everything changes. I learned to have a lot of discipline too because to take it seriously is the clue. I started to study music when i was 15 years old and now, I feel I'm in the beginning all the time because my search never ends.
What is your experience when you feel connected into the music?
My experience is gratitude with God and Life because they let me do what i really LOVE.
What is your experience of when you don't feel connected to your music?
It is impossible not to be connected with the music, it is part of my days, my nights, my dreams, my dreams and some of my nightmares... lol
Where does your inspiration comes from? What does it feel like?
My inspiration comes from heaven, the great gift of God. It is a total responsibility.
What is your experience while improvising? Does it relate to any spirituality you may practice in your life?
Improvisation is the language of my soul. It makes me feel free, happy, positive, powerfull but it also generates me a daily musical preparation because this carrer is something very serious.
Where does your inspiration while composing come from? What is your experience of that inspiration like?
My inspiration comes from my childhood, my sadness, my happiness, my spirituality that I seek in the way of God, living and feeling, walking or riding taught me a lot, Composing is the way to connect with everyone who can listen and feel to my music.
Do you have any fun stories of inspirational moments to share?
One concert i didnt took out the pad saber from my saxofon. So, it was very funny because no sound came out and i took it out after some minutes haha!... It was so funny because everybody was looking at me and laughing. Finally, i did it very fast... The music is so funny, actually, when you are not looking for.
