Biography
MISAJEL is a peruvian saxophone player and composer. MISAJEL is beginning to be a recognized as an international artist, thanks to his modern sounds when he plays his saxophones. For many years, MISAJEL (his artistic nickname) plays his contemporary music with a lot of emotion and feeling that confirm his passion for the saxophone since he was 15 years old. Since that moment, he is taking his talent for several countries, receiving many awards during his fruitful career. Misajel's "endorsements" are best and the most prestigious brands of saxophones all over the world, becoming the first saxophonist to represent in Peru to: P. Mauriat saxophones, THEO WANNE Mouthpieces, and RICO REEDS. Since 2007, he begins to be recognized in the international music world, touring in these countries: Spain, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, USA and many more. MISAJEL traveled to Mexico, where he recorded his Jazz CD: "MISAJEL / ESCAMILLA - MEXICO JAZZ" with Adrian Escamilla (composer). In parallel, he performs concerts and master classes. He has been invited by the International Conservatory of Music "Souza Lima & Berklee" (Sao Paulo - Brazil 2009) to be a member of its faculty, in turn and the "CLAEM" (Centro Latinoamericano de Altos Estudios Musicales - 2010) and chosen as moderator and professor of the network MYSAXTALK (Miami - USA 2011). Actually, MISAJEL has his first double album which compiles his best songs with "Misajel / A Different Day - Smooth Jazz" & "Misajel / Escamilla - Mexico Jazz", where he shows great skill in sax alto, tenor and soprano that allow you to navigate through a world of melodies and sound performances. Also, he teaches improvisation, private lessons, workshops and concerts permanently.

Inspiration
Why did you choose to become a musician?
Music was a big surprise in my life. I wanted to be a doctor but when I discovered music i felt something special and everything changes. I learned to have a lot of discipline too because to take it seriously is the clue. I started to study music when i was 15 years old and now, I feel I'm in the beginning all the time because my search never ends.
What is your experience when you feel connected into the music?
My experience is gratitude with God and Life because they let me do what i really LOVE.
What is your experience of when you don't feel connected to your music?
It is impossible not to be connected with the music, it is part of my days, my nights, my dreams, my dreams and some of my nightmares... lol
Where does your inspiration comes from? What does it feel like?
My inspiration comes from heaven, the great gift of God. It is a total responsibility.
What is your experience while improvising? Does it relate to any spirituality you may practice in your life?
Improvisation is the language of my soul. It makes me feel free, happy, positive, powerfull but it also generates me a daily musical preparation because this carrer is something very serious.
Where does your inspiration while composing come from? What is your experience of that inspiration like?
My inspiration comes from my childhood, my sadness, my happiness, my spirituality that I seek in the way of God, living and feeling, walking or riding taught me a lot, Composing is the way to connect with everyone who can listen and feel to my music.
Do you have any fun stories of inspirational moments to share?
One concert i didnt took out the pad saber from my saxofon. So, it was very funny because no sound came out and i took it out after some minutes haha!... It was so funny because everybody was looking at me and laughing. Finally, i did it very fast... The music is so funny, actually, when you are not looking for.
