SCOTT W JOHNSON - The Faze Band, The RiverTown Band

This mouthpiece has allowed me to go places musically that I've never been to before. The precision this piece is made with is immediately evident. It can whisper or it can scream and everything in between. I get asked about this mouthpiece all the time. Theo has been great and worked with me until I was happy and he did it when he didn't have to.

I'm 56 years old and live in Amelia Island Florida. Born and raised in Jacksonville Florida. I began playing Sax in Jr. High school and played in all available school bands through high school. I went on the road right after graduation with a Show Band and stayed on the road many many years playing six nights a week in resort hotels, casinos and show rooms throughout the United States and Canada. After the birth of my first child I left the road and now play locally and still do some touring.

What is your experience when you feel connected into the music?
It's almost intoxicating when it's right.

What is your experience of when you don't feel connected to your music?
Everything is labored. Nothing flows or clicks. Very uncomfortable.

Where does your inspiration comes from? What does it feel like?
I can get inspiration from just about anything. A line, phrase, even the open spaces in others playing talks to me.

What is your experience while improvising? Does it relate to any spirituality you may practice in your life?
I'm a Christian. I believe that the gift of music comes from God or whatever name God is called by.

Do you have any fun stories of inspirational moments to share?
I like it most when I'm approached by children and young people about music in general or the sax specifically. One young man that approached me years ago at church about the sax is now an accomplished saxophonist.
